KNEE WALL OPTIONS
A brick knee wall provides your sunroom with a sturdy, low maintenance knee wall. A brick knee wall may require a footer to support the additional weight. The brick knee wall will add an additional cost, however, the appearance it creates is unique. A brick knee wall will accommodate almost any structure. You will also be able to run electric wiring through a brick knee wall and be able to choose a color of brick that matches your project style.
A glass knee wall will increase light and visibility to your sunroom interior. The glass knee wall is a good solution if you enjoy the view of the landscaping and yard. The glass in the knee wall should be tempered in case of breakage. The electrical wiring will be run through the aluminum frame. This knee wall is commonly used with the glass sunroom, conservatory or solarium. The glass knee wall option will add an additional cost to your enclosure, but will also open up a wider view to the outside.
An insulated knee wall will consist of two laminates. The most common are vinyl,
aluminum or hardy board. These outer skins are then attached to an insulating material, usually polystyrene
construction grade Styrofoam. This knee wall is commonly used with a glass sunroom, conservatory or solarium.
An insulated knee wall will provide a great heat and moisture barrier and can be wired for electricity.
A non-insulated knee wall is most commonly used in screen rooms and pool enclosures. This wall
will be constructed out of only one laminate (usually aluminum). The non insulated knee wall is a durable solution
for screen rooms that come in contact with items that could possibly damage the lower portion of a screen room
or pool enclosure.
A screen knee wall is used when a homeowner is looking for an un-obstructed view out of their screen enclosure. This knee wall increases the amount of air flow while providing a barrier from insects and other outdoor elements, excluding rain. Screen knee walls are most commonly used in screen rooms and pool enclosures.
